So we got transfer calls last night. I have never wanted to stay in an area as bad as I wanted to stay in Mountain House. I feel like I still have things to do here.
So the verdict is… I get to stay in Mountain House!!!
I am staying in Mountain House and my new companion is Sister Turner. I don’t know who she is, but President said that we are probably going to get in trouble for having too much fun, so I’m excited! Sister Arevalo is going to Ceres and training. She is back to Spanish work. I have loved serving with her, but I’m excited to be with Sister Turner.
Last Monday, we played ultimate Frisbee and kickball with the Mantecans. We had dinner with the people that do our laundry and saw Manuel’s family. He wasn’t there, but we prayed and read scriptures with his family and they want to come to church!
Tuesday was a good day! I read the conference talk “Approaching the Throne of God with Confidence” by Elder Jorg Klebingat. That was my favorite talk from October 2014 conference. Every time I read it, it gets better! My favorite part is when he says, “You are pleasing God despite of your short-comings”. We did service at this retirement and assisted living facility. We sanded and painted the legs of tables. It was so much fun, but we were covered in saw dust and we had an appointment like right after. We have been trying to see this LA/PMF family and we finally got in. They found out we didn’t have a dinner, so they invited us to stay for dinner. They want to feed us again too! We talked to them about prayer and they pray together as a family, so awesome! Both of our appointments cancelled and we had been invited to Young Women and talked to them about our missions, it was great!
On Wednesday, we had a lesson with Monique. We taught the gospel of Jesus Christ and the 10 commandments. It was good, but I felt it was way too long. The Sister Training Leaders came and ate lunch with us. They are so great! It was hot outside! We had a good afternoon even though we didn’t get in to see anybody. We saw a few people in the evening and read scriptures again with that less active lady we saw last Wednesday and she wants us to come again. We also saw this semi-active family! It was a pretty good day.
We had our last district meeting of the transfer. This has been my favorite district. We led a training on virtue. One of my zone leaders, Elder Hopkin, led a really good training about Enduring to the End. One of the assistants, Elder Lopez, was there and he said some really great things. He said “As we endure to the end we are continuing our discipleship and become better each day”. He also said, “We should remove everything from our heads that is not good, like bad things about ourselves”. That gave me a new perspective. We visited some families and talked to this less active girls. We didn’t really see anyone else on Thursday.
We did weekly planning on Friday. We were supposed to have an appointment with Monique, but she cancelled. It was nasty outside, super rainy and windy so we got a ride. We saw this lady who is not a member and she wants us to start teaching her kids. Her husband is less active. We walked around and tried a bunch of different people. We had dinner with the Sales, she takes such good care of us. Her twins come back from their missions in a few weeks. We saw a few families. Long day!
On Saturday, we saw this less active family. Her kids love us. We went on splits with the Sister Training Leaders. I went with Sister Neeley. It was nice, we had to walk because they forgot their bikes. We saw this family and their Mom has valley fever, it was a good visit. We had dinner with this part member family. We want to start teaching him, but I don’t think now is the right time. We read scriptures with this family that is working towards the temple. Our district leader and one of the zone leaders came and brought us ice cream, they are the best!
It was a rush to get ready on Sunday for ward council. We represented the ward missionaries. We had a really good lesson in relief society about the Atonement. Allergies were killer today because it has been so windy. We saw Manuel and his wife Megan and they want to come to church! Also a member asked us for two copies of the Book of Mormon to give to some co-workers. It was a pretty good evening. We got calls around 10:10 from President. I am so happy that I am staying in Mountain House!
I am excited to see what this next transfer brings!
All the Love,
Sister Hanna Nicole Lynn
